How to Set Up Your Samsung TV and Speaker System | KOA EDI

With the rise of digital technologies, home entertainment systems have become considerably more powerful, more compact and sophisticated, and more accessible than ever before. This applies even to some top manufacturers, such as Samsung, which produces reliable and sophisticated devices that are generally accessible to the broader public.

This is particularly true when it comes to home theaters, which were a rarity in the '90s when the DVD was introduced. The increase in video and audio quality offered by the DVD had a massive impact on the concept of home theater, as it allowed for a more cinematic experience compared to VHS tapes.

However, the rise of Blu-Ray during the early 2000s, in which Samsung, as part of BDA, had a hand, revolutionized home theaters with their high-definition video and lossless audio. Furthermore, many Blu-ray players integrated the then-rising streaming services, which allowed users to access and enjoy streamed content directly through their home theater setup.

In this article, we'll discuss how to optimize your Samsung TV/Projector and speaker system at home for the ultimate home theater experience. So, without further ado, let's dive right in.

TV Setup

TV setup is rather easy; bigger is typically better, but don't buy the biggest TV you can find. Buying a TV that's too big can easily overwhelm the room and adversely impact your viewing experience. The best approach is to figure out the seating arrangement in terms of viewing distance—how far will you position the TV from the viewers?

An ideal viewing distance for a 43-inch Samsung BE43-T would be approximately 6 feet. However, bigger screens offer a more immersive experience; the gigantic 98-inch Samsung QB98T-B is a fantastic display, but its ideal viewing distance sits at 11 feet.

Projector Setup

Projector setups are a bit different; most projectors are rated for different screen sizes. For example, the Samsung 120" LSP7T 4K Smart Laser Projector is designed to project an image to a 120" screen, while the Samsung 130'' 2800-Lumen 4K Smart Laser Projector is designed to project an image to a 130" screen.

The seating arrangement should always correspond to the viewing distance, which is directly tied to screen size. The same applies to projector placement—it's calculated using the screen size and each projector's throw ratio. For the most optimal image quality, you should multiply the throw ratio with the screen size in inches and divide the result by 12.

For example, the Samsung 130'' 2800-Lumen 4K Smart Laser Projector has a throw ratio of 0.189. Assuming that you want to project an image to a 120" screed, the formula would look like this: 0.189 × 120 / 12 = 1.89 feet. The projector should be 1.9 feet away from the projector screen.

Audio Setup

Depending on your needs and budget, setting up an adequate audio system may be a bit complex. Samsung stopped producing typical floor-standing speakers that are typically associated with home entertainment setups.

However, the company is still the proverbial king of the hill when it comes to soundbars and multi-speaker setups. For a simpler setup, Samsung's HW-S50A/ZA Soundbar With Dolby Digital/DTS offers a panoramic room-filling sound with dual-sided horn speakers complemented by Samsung Acoustic Beam Technology.

But if you want to create an even more immersive viewing or gaming experience, we suggest going with speaker set setups, which are capable of providing a more immersive surround sound—something we wholeheartedly recommend to movie buffs and advise against to horror-enthusiastic gamers.

A good example of a speaker's set setup would be the Samsung HW-Q950A/ZA, which is an 11.1 4CH soundbar with Dolby Atmos/DTS.

Connecting Everything

It's really important to check device compatibility before setting on a particular product. This used to be a major concern before Wi-Fi and A/V Bluetooth codecs evolved to where they are now, as these allow modern devices to connect with one another wirelessly, thus creating a more streamlined, wireless aesthetic.

However, despite the convenience of wireless, we typically advise wired hardware, as it is often more reliable. In that case, you'll have to check for compatibility. Even if you miss-match something, there are various video and audio signal or connector adaptors that can help you connect your setup.

Summary

In the end, optimizing and setting up your Samsung TV/Projector isn't really that hard. It all comes down to selecting the right and compatible products and setting them up in a way that enhances your viewing experience.
